Tamil Nadu state ranks third in Electricity generation, transmission and distribution in India. The power generation company plans to set up additional power generation plant in the location of existing generating stations. Tamil Nadu Electricity Board came into being on July 1st, 1957. The government of Tamil Nadu was set to extend the electricity network to all villages and towns over the time. After 53 years of journey, it was restructured on November 1st, 2010 to from TNEB, TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd) and TANTRANSCO (Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd.).

TNEB provides multiple bill payment options. You can make your electricity bill payment online also. There is Internet NetBanking for Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, City Union Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Punjab National Bank and Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank.
Use your Debit Card for internet bill payment with using Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Indian Overseas Bank debit card. You can any Master / Visa credit card or Debit card of the above mentioned banks.
Consumers can make complaints over phone on all working days between 2p.m. and 3 p.m. or in person or through a letter to any of TNEB section offices or sub-division offices concerned located nearer by. There are consumer grievance redressal forums located in circle office. Consumers may approach these redressal forums for their grievances.
